1. What is the vision and mission of YCWS?

Yayasan Cita Wadah Swadaya (YCWS) is a faith-based organization committed to transforming lives through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, refugee crises, and disasters. The name YCWS reflects our vision and values: YAYASAN (Foundation), CITA (A just, dignified, and prosperous society), WADAH (Collaborative forums and networks), SWADAYA (Self-sufficiency and empowerment). We believe that through collaboration across various sectors and with regional partners, we would contribute to building a more equitable society for all Indonesians.

 2. What is the brief history of YCWS’s founding?

YCWS was established in Jakarta in August 2024 inheriting the rich legacy, resources, and decades of experience of Church World Service (CWS), an international humanitarian NGO,which has been present in Indonesia since the 1960s.

3. Who are YCWS’s partners and networks?

YCWS develops long-term cooperation with NGOs, ecumenical partners, and interfaith humanitarian organizations. YCWS has become a member of the Humanitarian Forum Indonesia (HFI), the main hub for faith-based humanitarian institutions in Indonesia, and Asian Disaster Reduction and Responsive Network (ADRNN).

YCWS has established good relationships with donors such as Act for Peace, The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (BPRM) US Govt, Department of Home Affairs (DHA) Australia Govt, Week of Compassion, JICA, CWS Japan, etc.

5. What are YCWS work programs?

YCWS is committed to serving our affected community in the three core program areas, namely Refugees Protection and Assistance, Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Climate Resilience, in Indonesia. Our programs aim to improve social, legal, economic, and environmental conditions of people and their community in need. Our intervention is built on a long-term partnership with local people, who are at the centre of our program design and implementation in order to serve people more effectively in the most vulnerable situation. Therefore, we uphold the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of our programs.
